The BEST watermelon margarita EVER at Cha-cha’s Latin Kitchen! Go get one now! All of their signature cocktails look amazing made with fresh ingredients; but our server enthusiastically recommended the Watermelon Margarita as her absolute favorite drink. Don’t you guys love servers with opinions and good knowledge of the menu? I do! And she did not steer us wrong! This was hands down the most delicious watermelon margarita ever! I am usually a straight forward margarita gal, Cadillac or skinny margarita, on rocks. I hate the syrupy store bought sour mixes that give a margarita that artificial flavor, and the fruity ones are usually the worst offenders made with prepackaged fruit juice or nectar. But a well made margarita is a thing of beauty! You can try to avoid bad margaritas by asking just a few questions. I usually ask if the sour mix is house made, and if the mix is freshly squeezed lime/lemon/orange juices. If ordering a fruity mix, is it freshly blended real fruit?
And if a bar or restaurant has gone through the trouble of serving freshly squeezed juice, then they are probably also using premium tequila, but you can ask just to be sure (let’s avoid that cheap tequila hang over). Cha-cha’s signature margaritas are all made from fresh fruit and sweetened with agave – yay! So the BEST watermelon margarita ever is made with fresh watermelon, Hibiscus Juice, Maestro Dobel Tequila, and Black Pepper Agave Nectar. Mouth watering, right? And not to worry if it sounds like it would be too sweet, it isn’t. It is simple and refreshing. I can’t wait to try the other signature cocktails that also use all fresh ingredients.
Their Happy Hour is pretty generous in time range: Sunday-Thursday ALL day and night! Friday and Saturday is 11:30-7:00. All apps, signature cocktails and margaritas are $2 off, and beer and wine $1 off. The chips and salsa are solid, with fresh and crispy chips and two kinds of salsas, red and green, which are both on the mild side, but very tasty. The appetizers are good and fun to share. The guacamole was bright and flavorful, the empanadas are sweet savory, and the flautas are flaky and light. My favorite app was the crispy calamari and shrimp which were so delicately battered and fried and served with a tangy lime-cilantro aioli.
But really, the bangin’ deals are the daily special! Check it out!
The patio and open lounge area are bright and inviting. We stayed for several hours chatting, drinking, and eating with attentive and friendly service. Cha-cha’s is located in the Irvine Marketplace with plenty of parking and easy access.
