We don’t just live on alcohol alone – we love our coffee too! There are two kinds of coffee shops: one that you can pop in to grab a quick coffee to take with you: these places often have uncomfortable and cramped seating to discourage lingering – I’m looking at you Starbucks; then there are the places that just scream welcome. I love those coffee shops and I have had a bit of a hard time finding one that I really like. But Eureka!, I finally found a great coffee shop that has ample seating with bright, natural light. The wifi code is posted at the counter, and you can borrow a portable charging station! Decent pop music played at a medium loud volume that can be heard above the pleasant hum of other customers.
There is a lovely outdoor seating area in front and behind the shop with plenty of low slung chairs, tables, and umbrellas for lounging. I love that both the indoor and outdoor area is spacious with the tables spaced far apart, so you have plenty of elbow room and privacy: great for getting some work done, or meeting up with friends. The food selection is limited, but there are some baked items from an in-house bakery, and a few rolls, quiches, hummus and vegetable pack, or a protein pack.
And now for the main attraction, the coffee. The Coffee Bean roasts their own smooth, medium bodied coffee. They source their coffee directly from organically certified farms, rotating their coffee seasonally. This month, they are featuring Mexican coffee. We spoke to the manager of the Costa Mesa location, Jason, and they are opening up other locations, including Tustin and Irvine. We can’t wait to have more of these independent coffee shops that won’t give me the evil eye when I dig out my laptop. But seriously, you will love this place. It’s beautiful, comfortable, and serves a solid cup of coffee.
