What is Oktoberfest and why do we celebrate?

Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12th October 1810. The citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event.        – City of Munich website

Potato pancakes were fried to perfection and tasty with a side of applesauce.

German musicians perform every weekend during Oktoberfest. Polka lessons are on Saturdays at 5:30 pm. The dance floor has plenty of space to polka and chicken dance to your heart’s content. You will have a tough time deciding on what German beer to try. So. Many. Choices! If you have the gift of drinking lots of beers, then show off that skill of yours and enter the beer drinking contest. There’s also a sausage eating contest if you enjoy eating sausages. There are also booths where you can shop for fun items like Halloween decor, candles, jewelry, clothing and even items for your dog.
